MRV4SOC at Copenhagen Earth Observation Event
The EU-funded MRV4SOC project is represented today at the “Earth Observation for Monitoring, Reporting and Verification of Carbon Removals” event in Copenhagen.
The project is represented in Session 3: EO-derived products in support of MRV activities (15:30–17:00 CEST).
-
Yue Zhou (UCLouvain) presents “EO-based monitoring of cropland management and soil carbon dynamics.” The talk explains how remote sensing (RS) predicts cropland management practices. Also, it focuses on how RS products feed into process-based models to track soil organic carbon.
-
Dimitra Palantza (AUTH) shares RothC results, offering practical insights from MRV4SOC’s work on carbon accounting.

- Iryna Raiskaya (University of Greifswald) will join tomorrow’s workshop about CRCF on peatlands.
Advancing soil carbon monitoring
By integrating Earth Observation data streams with robust scientific and social methodologies, MRV4SOC is developing scalable approaches to measure, report, and verify soil carbon changes across Europe. The project contributes directly to the EU Mission “A Soil Deal for Europe” and supports climate mitigation goals.
