AUTH and UCLouvain present MRV4SOC research on soil organic carbon at EGU25 in Vienna.

The MRV4SOC project was featured at the EGU General Assembly 2025 in Vienna, one of the largest global events for geoscientists.

Dimitra Palantza from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) presented a poster in the “Carbon Farming in Mediterranean Climates” session. Her work, titled “Integrating Remote Sensing and AI Modelling in Mediterranean Agroforestry and Cropland Systems,” presented a robust framework for spatially explicit monitoring of soil properties and Above Ground Biomass (AGB) estimation in Mediterranean agroforestry and cropland systems by integrating remote sensing (RS) and artificial intelligence (AI).

Marmar Sabetizadeh from UCLouvain also presented a poster: “Assessing Soil Organic Carbon Dynamics Across Croplands and Grasslands.” The study utilises the RothC model to explore the dynamics of SOC across two distinct land uses in Wallonia, Belgium — croplands and grasslands.

Both posters are now available on the MRV4SOC Resources page.
